“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20). God has a plan for you, and is speaking to you daily; however, spiritual discipline can become difficult on your own. This group is for those who are looking for deeper relationship with God, understanding of the scripture, and fellowship with members of NHM through keeping each other accountable. We will be discussing about real-life applications, ways to make an impact in the community, and encourage one another to stand tall in our journey of faith.

Each week, members will be expected to:
1) Diligently read the M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
2) Actively share and participate in the discussions during small group
3) Diligently pray for other members of the small group

We will also have a “fun day” activity (or two, or three…), days of serving, and other times for fellowship.

Open Small Group is for everyone who wants to connect to our church and learn more about Christ. This small group welcomes newcomers, people curious about small groups, frequent travelers unable to commit to a small group, those that had bad experiences with previous churches or small groups, or anyone that wasn’t able to sign-up for a small group this term. We hope to provide community for all who need it.

However, by officially signing up for this small group you become a Committed Member (“CM”). We expect CMs to attend every meeting and make Open Small Group a priority. You may be asked to help facilitate discussion. We highly encourage CMs to fellowship after small group ends, usually by sharing a meal, getting coffee, and/or playing board games or darts.

If you want to join without committing, please do not sign up. Instead come join us every Sunday at 12pm at B101 (Hope Hall) after 10am service ends!

Throughout this small group term we hope to develop relationships rooted in Christ and his Word.

God’s plan for us is to live out His Truth and we hope for the next couple months we can focus on God’s Word to bring change to our daily work and mindset. Through Bible reading, journaling, praying, sharing, and fellowship, we will encourage and be respectful to each other’s struggles and where we are in different aspects of our faith walk. We’ll be praying for each member’s transformation to be a light at God’s given missions field-our workplace.

-Hi!-
Join us as we meditate on the section of the M’Cheyne Bible reading plan that will be covered during the course of the summer small group term of 2018.

-Focus-
This small group will have a mix that is equal parts focus on meditation in the word and building fellowship. If you are fairly new to NHM and want to get plugged in, this is a friendly small group where you can experience the awesomeness of NHM fellowship. If you have been attending NHM for a while and want to grow your faith to the next level, this small group will challenge you to take proactive steps to serve the community and start taking ownership of your faith through servant leadership, yaaasss.

-Read, Meditate, Share-
Each member will be expected to read the daily scripture assigned and meditate on that passage. Be prepared to discuss how God spoke to you through the scripture throughout the week. It is encouraged to keep a journal/notes on daily reading in order to make conversation in SG time flow well. Members are also encouraged to occasionally share throughout the week in the group chat about ways God is speaking to them.

-Expectations of SG Time-
Members will be expected to join the weekly SG meetings on Sundays, commit to attending them on time, and be respectable to other people’s time by notifying your absence ahead of time. SG times together will be discussion oriented, i.e. this small group will not be a lecture-type Bible study. We will spend some time for fellowship each week, but the study of the passage and its application will have higher priority. We will identify verses and ideas that challenge us and encourage each other as we apply them to our lives, as well as sharing other life events and to build community through the Word and time spent together. Questions will be provided as a guide to help facilitate discussion. Note that if it seems that a member is sharing “too long”, please do not take offense if cut short – we want everyone to have a chance to share.

-Pray!-
In addition to this, members will be expected to pray for a prayer partner within the group and to check in (text, call, or meet up) with that prayer partner at least once throughout the week to encourage each other.

-Growth Opportunity-
Finally, be prepared to lead one session. This can be done alone or with a partner (it’s a spiritual challenge!). We are all potential lay leaders and EVERY member will take turns leading in this small group. There is an “in-service” activity and an “out-reach” activity to further cultivate fellowship and a spirit of service.

[EYA] 3 spaces remaining as of WED 5/30 @ 8:30am
This group is for all, whether new believers or long-time believers, consistently wanting to know more about God, our identity, and His Work.
Everyone is pretty much a leader themselves. With that said, we are looking for proactive members who are open when they are asked to lead, whether in prayer, in small group leading, or in various task prep such as outreach, church service, fun day, etc.
The group will start on time, with opening prayer and praise, and contains 1hr~1.15hr bible study, announcement, and ends with prayer time.
*Please take note that each meeting will not be longer than 2 hours, and please do consider carefully your availability whether physically, time-wise, and being considerate of others before signing up for this small group.
**The leader kindly requests each member to not miss more than 3 of the meetings as a commitment to the small group.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John 15:16

Every term, I believe God hand-picks each one of us for our respective small groups, for we are here not by accident but by His gracious calling. “You did not choose me, but I chose you,” said our Lord Jesus Christ so that we may go and bear fruit. But then what does that mean? How do we go and bear fruit? There may be various ways to produce much fruit in our lives, but this term, we will choose the most obvious way – by studying the Word of God and through prayer.

Since our summer reading will fall on some of the most challenging parts of the Old Testament (the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth…) and the some of the most exciting parts of the New Testament (the books of Matthew, Mark and Acts…), we will focus on some of the selected chapters of the Bible Reading Plan we are on basing the most of our discussion on the following themes:

1) Week 1~3: Prayer through Psalms
2) Week 4~6: Character study on Moses and Joshua
3) Week 7~9: Jesus on the move (Mark, Acts)
4) Week 10~12: God at work (Acts, OT)

Committing to a week-day small group can be challenging, but it can also be rewarding. Through delving into His Word together and lifting one another through prayers, we will aim to spur one another to bear much fruit in Christ.

At the end of the term, there will be a time set aside for bearing witnesses of each other through sharing testimonies and engaging in a deeper fellowship time.

(1) We will focus on the Bible during our meetings by having discussions based on the weekly readings. We will also spend time in prayer and praise.
