Sundays

[PUT INTO PRACTICE] 2 spaces remaining as of SUN 9/27 @ 11am
Our small group will study the book of Ephesians using the material by J.D. Greear on “RightNow MEDIA”.

The book of Ephesians focuses on the community and keeping the body of the church holy. It highlights us being and growing together as a spiritual family.

In our small group, we will focus on putting what we learned into practice. Obeying and applying what we learned from the Bible is an important part of spiritual life. So we will have one homework activity each week from what we learned the previous Sunday – please share creative ideas for this!

Those who are prepared to commit yourself to complete the Bible reading for each week and to attend every meeting with a willing heart, and an openness to be honest, to listen, and to share your thoughts and opinions are welcome!

[SURVIVAL MANUAL] 1 space remaining as of SUN 9/27 @ 11am
“Has it ever dawned on you that nothing has ever dawned on God? He knew before the world began that His people would face hardship, so he gave us His word. The book of Ephesians is a survival manual.- it equips believers to thrive in a world that hates the message of Jesus Christ” – J.D. Greear

We all know that life is not easy, and can be really hard and difficult at times. However, we as believers are never alone. Christ is with us through everything that we go through. Not only do we have Christ, but we have his precious Word that He uses to speak to us for all moments of life. As Pastor Greear describes the book of Ephesians as a survival manual, we will go through this survival manual and see how we can thrive in our daily lives as believers. As we study the book of Ephesians may we have an expectation to see how God will work in our lives, as He strengthens us, encourages us, and challenges us through His word.

If you sign up, here are some things to expect:
1. Commit to attend meetings on time
2. Read the Bible passages
3. Pray for one another

“What Would Jesus Do?” was a popular phrase in the early 2000’s. It was on every bumper sticker and rubber wristband and it was every Christians motto for life. Let’s take a look at what Jesus actually calls us to do. In the beatitudes, he says that we are blessed to be poor in spirit, to mourn, to be pure in heart, to be persecuted and insulted. He calls us to not speak harshly to one another, or to not look at someone with lust. Most importantly, we should love God with all of our hearts, minds and strength and to love and put others above ourselves.

How are you holding up?

Though these are beautiful ideals to aspire to, most don’t seem remotely achievable or even desirable — without the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God empowers us to do the impossible and the undesirable. Let’s be led through the book of Ephesians together, as a family, by the Holy Spirit.

VISION:
My prayer is that this small group be a haven of meaningful relationships, intercession in prayer, open and deep discussions as well as healing and support as a family. I also pray that we can have lots of fun and enjoy hanging out and growing with one another.

EXPECTATIONS: With that said, I expect those who join this small group to have the similar goals for community and growth. You should:

1. Be ready to seek God’s face in honesty and humility.
2. Be ready to more deeply understand God’s Word and will.
3. Be ready to have fun with and invest in one another (safely).
4. Be ready to pray and intercede for one another.
5. Be ready to love and serve one another in love and humility.
6. Be ready to do life together, for real.

BOTTOM LINE:
So, I know what you’re thinking. “This sounds great and all but can I really expect all of this from a small group?” Yes, you can! I believe that all things are possible with God. This is a real commitment, one that Christ is calling us to enter into. Thankfully, we don’t do it out of our own abilities or strengths, but through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Now, what would Jesus do?

[ENCOUNTERING GOD THROUGH JOURNALING]
“How often do you sit in silence and reflect on what God is saying?”
In the midst of our busy life at work, concerns about the future, distractions from the world, and the pressure to be always productive, it is hard to sit, stay still and let God speak.

If you are looking for a different way to engage with God’s Word, that allows you to pause, reflect, focus, and respond to what God is saying, this small group is for you.

In this small group you will be challenged to keep a daily prayer journal based on the insights you receive as you study the book of Ephesians.

Members who would like to join this small group will be expected to:

1. Commit to attend the meeting on time
2. Diligently write personal reflections before the meeting
3. Continually pray for one another
4. Serve the small group (leading, praise, prayer request, and other delegated tasks)

Thursdays

[THURSDAY GOSPEL ZOMBIES]

It’s Thursday. One more day until the weekend.
You think back on this week and have no idea where all that time went 🤯(even though you’re pretty sure you worked hard on… something). You feel like a zombie, mindlessly going through your days. Top all that with the Covid situation and your life could very well be made into the next zombie series on Netflix.😷 Perhaps you’re keeping yourself busy on purpose so you won’t have to think about the bigger questions in life?

I mean, you know the Gospel – that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and that God is making all things new. But perhaps you’re wondering:

“How does THAT affect my life?”

“Like. How does the Gospel change my friendships or marriage or even the way I work?”

Or perhaps you’re not even quite sure “what exactly is the Gospel?”

If you nodded your head to any of the questions above, you’re in the right place.

We are a bunch of curious people from a different walks of life who will embark on an adventure to (re)discover and dive deeper into the Gospel. We’ll be asking “What is this good news that Paul talks about in Ephesians?” and as importantly, “What does that have to do with me?”

Members who are likely to enjoy this small group are:
🕵🏻‍♂️ Inquisitive/Curious – We don’t settle for superficial answers. We like to stir the boat and believe that if there is such as thing as truth, digging deeper can only get us closer to it.
🙋🏽‍♀️ Available/Faithful – The foundation of any good relationship is commitment. We’re people who will commit a semester of our lives to investing in each others’ lives and growing together!

🤸🏽‍♀️ Flexible/Teachable – We approach the word with humility and allow the Bible to be our teachers! That means being open to learn from each other and being okay stepping out of the comfort zone!

As we study the Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, we hope to go from mindless zombies living going through life in autopilot mode to Gospel zombies🧟‍♀️🧟‍♂️ — a bunch of weird beings who have died to their old selves and now live a completely transformed lives.

Considering the location, this group will be child friendly.
