ONLINE COMMUNITY GROUPS will always meet online (e.g. Zoom) throughout the entire term.

1) Please sign up for one community group only. Signing up for more than one group takes away a spot for another person wanting to join.
2) Please read the descriptions carefully so you register for an appropriate group. Doing so will ensure you get into the right group and not have to sign up again, as groups might become full when you try to sign up again.

[PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE] 2 spaces remaining as of TUES 1/26 @ 10am
“by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter 1:4)

This group will be focusing on building community and having fellowship, sharing what we have learned through the sermon each week, and keeping connected through life-sharing and prayer throughout the week. We will take time to remember, celebrate and praise the “precious and very great promises” God has kept in our lives weekly and strive to be “partakers of the divine nature” as a community. If you are seeking to be a part of a God-fearing, Jesus-loving, and Spirit-filled body, this group is for you.

Though we will be meeting online, we will attempt creative ways to have fun and have fellowship through different activities. Staying connected through the weekdays is an important part of this group as well.

Each week, members will be expected to:
1) Participate in the NHM Sunday Service weekly.
2) Actively share and participate in the discussions during the community group meetings.
3) Continuously pray for other members of the group.
4) Meet online through a video-chat platform.

MEETING PLACE: ONLINE (e.g. Zoom Video Conferencing)
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25 ESV

2020 was quite the year! As we start 2021, my prayer and hope is that the new year will be a year of application of the above verse, where we can faithfully stir one another up and encourage one another, as we learn and apply what it means to truly become a community centered on Christ.

This term, this community group will meet safely online each week and discuss the NHM weekly Sunday sermons together, share our lives and pray for one another, and find ways where we can practically apply what God is teaching us through His Word and through the circumstances we are going through in our lives.

So… for those who want to join this group, please be prepared with open hearts, a listening ear and be committed to attending each week so we can be intentional in our spiritual growth and see miraculous transformation as Christ intended… together.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Do you love to pray? Then this group needs you! Would you like to be prayed over? Then please join this group!

2020 has been a year of new challenges and struggles that we are still learning how to live with, but as we face each obstacle let’s remember first to acknowledge our Lord and Savior in every moment and continually remind each other that He has not left us alone! He has given us himself, his Holy Spirit, and his body. Guess what makes up his body –> we do! This term we will try to study what it means to have true community as members of the body/family of Christ as our NHM pastors lead us in a series about ‘koinonia’ (fellowship). Each week we will meet together online after service to discuss what we’ve learned from the Word of God that’s been shared with us. We know we can’t live life alone. We must walk together and love each other as Christ first loved us, but what is the type of community God originally intended for us to have supposed to look like? As we learn how we are to walk with one another, let’s prayerfully be keeping a spiritual lookout for each other as we know that there are often forces at work that only our God has real power and influence over.

This community group will have a focus on prayer so be ready to pray a lot — petitioning and making supplication for our fellow saints. If signing up for this CG please be aware that members will be expected to share their prayer requests with each other every week and pray for one another, oftentimes even aloud during Zoom sessions. The facilitator will also set-up a rotation system of smaller prayer groups so that members can be available to pray for each other during the week. Let’s all work hard to encourage one another to fight for each other in prayer, with full faith and assurance that our Father in Heaven hears and answers! Nothing can happen or change unless He goes before us.

***There will be a lot of communication through Kakao chat for this CG. If you do not use Kakao please let the CG leader know. Hope to catch you on Zoom soon :).

[BRIDGE] 4 spaces remaining as of TUES 1/26 @ 10am
Begin again in 2021 as we explore this new community group journey where we shift away from being curriculum-focused to centering on people and doing life together. Even though this is not a home-group and will go for 3 months instead of 6, this group will hope to accomplish the same mission of building community. The name of this group is called Bridge. It refers to that major transition in life, from one lifestyle to another. Leaving the familiar and starting anew in the unfamiliar. It resonates with 2020 in that the pandemic paved a path from the previous way of life to a new normal. Examples of someone walking this bridge include a post-grad figuring out new corporate (or startup) life, a foreigner adjusting to Korea, going from single life to dating (or even dating to married!), or leaving an old job to start a new one. If this speaks to you, then this might be the group for you.

We all lead busy lives, but we’re not meant to do it alone. The purpose of a bridge is to connect. And that brings us to the first of two aspects of this group: this group aims to connect us together so that we can share with each other as we traverse this bridge in life. It is also to help us uphold our connection with God together as a body. For the sake of health safety, this group will choose to connect via online.

Bridges of great size can falter under their own weight and therefore have supports along the way to hold it up. And that brings us to the second aspect of this group, which is to support one other and lift each other up as we stumble and navigate across this equally big bridge in life. In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT) it says “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

A particular feature of this group is that we will meet not just once, but twice a week: once on Sundays at 3pm to discuss the sermon and then on Wednesday evenings at 8pm. Gathering together as a body every Sunday, we get spiritually charged up. Then as the week goes by, often without knowing, that spiritual fervor among some of us plummets and we fall into a vicious cycle of trying to figure out life on our own. As much as we should make the effort to individually spend time in prayer and the Word every day, sometimes the gap from one Sunday to the next can be challenging for us. To expand upon the overarching analogy a little further, bridges cover a gap. The Wednesday meeting is to both bring us together again during the middle of that gap as well as break that cycle we sometimes get lost in. It is to help us realign our hearts towards Christ. A sort of fellowship bridge to next Sunday.

As being a part of this group, members will be expected to join the weekly CG meetings, commit to attending them on time, and be respectful to other people’s time by notifying your absence ahead of time (please try not to be absent). Thank for bearing with the over-extended wordplay and hope to see you soon.

[UNWINDING OUR DAY!] 3 spaces remaining as of SUN 1/31 @ 6:30pm
We are commanded to use whatever gift(s) we have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms (1Peter 4:10). Doing life together in our community groups will encourage each of us to do so.

At any given time, relationships are necessary. It is a source of blessing, joys, sorrows, conflicts and much more helping us grow in love and in faith as a community. Considering that we all have struggles and joys as individuals, sharing them in a Christian community can be a tool in strengthening one another.

In this community group, we will be unwinding our day together with dinner, snacks or drinks as everyone is encouraged to:
1. Come with listening ears and with an understanding heart
2. Share life applications from the weekly Sunday messages
3. Be accountable to each other
4. Read the Word together and pray for one another.
