ONLINE COMMUNITY GROUPS will always meet online (e.g. Zoom) throughout the entire term.

1) Please sign up for one community group only. Signing up for more than one group takes away a spot for another person wanting to join.
2) Please read the descriptions carefully so you register for an appropriate group. Doing so will ensure you get into the right group and not have to sign up again, as groups might become full when you try to sign up again.

[THE GOD OF HOPE] closed
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

A lot of people are feeling frustrated, stressed, and depressed about the future as the pandemic still drags on. We don’t know when this will be over. It seems there’s no hope. These are hard times for us, for others, and for the world. But we see through the Bible no matter what the circumstances, there is always hope in God and in his ways and his promises. God is with us all the time and always working for us in the midst of hardships and difficulties. We all need hope and our hope is Christ Jesus. God wants us to be filled with joy and peace in believing the God of hope. Pray that throughout this community group, we may abound with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This community group will focus on
1) growing in faith and building us up each other
2) building community and sharing life applications from the sermon every week
3) praying for one another continuously

This is online community group, so we will meet online through zoom throughout the term. All members will be expected to
1) participate in the weekly Sunday worship service either in person or online
2) share your life and participate in the application discussions.
3) be accountable to each other for building community

[BRIDGE – SEASON 2] time changed from 9am to 9:45am
As we approach the halfway point of 2021, we have explored this new community group journey where we shift away from being curriculum-focused to centering on people and doing life together. Even though this is not a home-group and will go for 3 months instead of 6, this group will hope to accomplish the same mission of building community. The name of this group is called Bridge. It refers to that major transition in life, from one lifestyle to another. Leaving the familiar and starting anew in the unfamiliar. It resonates with 2020 in that the pandemic paved a path from the previous way of life to a new normal. Examples of someone walking this bridge include a post-grad figuring out new corporate (or startup) life, a foreigner adjusting to Korea, going from single life to dating (or even dating to married!), or leaving an old job to start a new one. If this speaks to you, then this might be the group for you.

We all lead busy lives, but we’re not meant to do it alone. The purpose of a bridge is to connect. And that brings us to the first of two aspects of this group: this group aims to connect us together so that we can share with each other as we traverse this bridge in life. It is also to help us uphold our connection with God together as a body. For the sake of health safety, this group will choose to connect via online.

Bridges of great size can falter under their own weight and therefore have supports along the way to hold it up. And that brings us to the second aspect of this group, which is to support one other and lift each other up as we stumble and navigate across this equally big bridge in life. In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT) it says “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

A particular feature of this group is that we will meet not just once, but twice a week:
– Sunday mornings at 9:45am to focus on community and
– Thursday evenings at 8:15pm to discuss the sermon

Gathering together as a body every Sunday, we get spiritually charged up. Then as the week goes by, often without knowing, that spiritual fervor among some of us plummets and we fall into a vicious cycle of trying to figure out life on our own. As much as we should make the effort to individually spend time in prayer and the Word every day, sometimes the gap from one Sunday to the next can be challenging for us. To expand upon the overarching analogy a little further, bridges cover a gap. The mid-week meeting is to both bring us together again during the middle of that gap as well as break that cycle we sometimes get lost in. It is to help us realign our hearts towards Christ. A sort of fellowship bridge to next Sunday.

As being a part of this group, members will be expected to join the weekly CG meetings, commit to attending them on time, and be respectful to other people’s time by notifying your absence ahead of time (please try not to be absent). Thank for bearing with the over-extended wordplay and hope to see you soon.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” – Matthew 18:20

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

If your heart desire is to live out what the Bible says and what you hear from the sermon every week, this is the right place to learn and grow together. By praying for each other and relying on the Holy Spirit, we aim to “ACTS” and lift up our prayers everyday as a disciple of Jesus. Prayers will enable us to obey God’s words in the Spirit in our daily lives on earth.:) So, pray about joining this CG and sign up for it!
*No worries, we will have so much fun by doing getting-to-know each other games as well as praying together! 🙂

Let’s be honest. When you think of Covid, it’s easy to feel distant and sad. Well, not this Covid—Community Of Various Incredible Disciples!

As it is stated in Proverbs, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” This group is for those who want to edify, encourage, stimulate, and uplift one another. Since community is not built by one person alone, our group will be based on the participation of every person. So be ready to get involved!

We will focus on three aspects: fellowship, sermon, and prayer.

Fellowship – Each week, our group will play a short game/ice breaker that one member has prepared for us. We might be answering trivia questions, looking for an impostor in the group, banding together to solve a puzzle, etc. I don’t know what the game will be but I’m already excited! So when it’s your week, come prepared with a fun activity.

Sermon – After all the excitement of games, we will have the excitement of a Spirit-led discussion! First, every member will be required to listen to the sermon on Sunday. Second, you must lead or co-lead discussion one week based on the Word, discussion questions, and inner reflection and application.

Prayer – Every member will be required to pray for our church and our community group brothers and sisters. We will break off into smaller prayer groups so you must be ready to share your life openly and honestly.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 [ESV]

Shalom, NHM brothers and sisters in Christ! 🙂

Welcome to NHM’s 2021 Summer Term Community Group! This term, my hope and prayer for our community group is to continually grow in our CONFIDENCE IN CHRIST, and not in of ourselves! Therefore, I really hope that those of you interested in joining this group would be willing to really commit to coming regularly to our weekly meetings, uninhibited to be open and honest, and in love, extend grace and encouragement to one another, as we continue to really strive to be convicted of being doers of the Living Word and sharing our lives as a commUNITY! 😀
